Hi all
I love fun facts about numbers and calendar dates and wanted to share this article from my local paper with others who might find these facts interesting:
Today - Odd Day - is the last of its kind this century.
This fun fact about today won't change your life, but you'll want to share it with your friends anyway. It's Odd Day, and it's the last one this century. Today -- 11/13/15 -- will be the last date with sequential odd numbers for 90 years (until Jan. 3, 2105 or 1/3/5). Sure, it's not an official holiday. But the math geeks and trivia buffs among us will want to mark the occasion. Ron Gordon, a retired school teacher from Redwood, Calif., created a whole website about it: Oddday.net . He doesn't just explain Odd Day either. He has discovered several interesting oddities in the calendar, and he has websites for those too. They include Square Root Day (4/4/16) and Trumpet Day (2/2/22 or "to to to tooo," get it?). "They're all just by chance," Gordon said of finding the numbers. "I stumble over the day accidentally. Gordon has contests on his website, as well as suggestions for celebrating the Odd Day including finding that odd sock or giving a friend a high-five. Mrs. Gordon (her name is Linda but Gordon calls her Belgium) draws the illustrations for the website. Gordon can't say why he or anyone else likes fun facts like Odd Day so much. "To me it's just intriguing. They just don't happen that often. I told someone that it's like a little kid at a picnic and a lady bug flies on his arm. He shows everyone until it flies away, then it's gone. This is my ladybug. And yes, there's a Ladybug Day too. It was 10/11/12, based on a Sesame Street song called The Ladybugs' Picnic that uses 10/11/12 in the refrain..
Fun.
yay.
I was wondering recently if we were going to get one more of these once-in-a-century dates we've been hearing about since 2000.
Nice to know you caught one more.
I'm betting some of the young kids on here will live to see another season of some of these. Life expectancies keep expanding, so someone on here now who is 15 could possibly live to see another 01/01/01 or something.
Who's with me?
I won't. I'd be an old hag, by the time it's 01-01-01. I'll be so old... What am I doing on here? LOL
Blessings!
I forgot My Name!
There will be a square root day next year on April 4 (4/4/16). I checked out the website given in the article.
Hey folks, I think Becky dreams all this stuff then wakes up and thinks it's real. Humor her, y'all.
Bob
Lol of course we will. Wouldn't life / work / humdrum be rather dull without her?
Bob, I had a nightmare that you existed.
<lol>
No nightmare Beck, just a fond recollection.
